Paid
Work Experience
The Adult Paid Work Experience Program is
a placement with a private, public or not for profit entity for the
expressed purpose of providing career work experience and occupational
skills to eligible Workforce Investment Act (WIA) participants. This
program is based on availability of funds.
The
employer provides the site and meaningful work for the participant in
order for the participant to develop the following:

Specific
workplace skills

The ability to
use technology in the workplace setting

Generic
workplace-related skills
The participant will
be compensated at the employers' prevailing entry-level wage as
appropriate to the occupation. The participant is eligible to work up
to a maximum of 40 hours per week and will be compensated according to
the terms of the contract. The length of the placement will be mutually
agreed upon with the employer prior to the placement, with the maximum
length of employment being six months.
